Plexus Icon Design

The original range of icons were from off the shelf packages and not totally relevant to the icons purpose. Plexus came to us for the solution.

The Requirement
The Plexus software was very specialised, an off the shelf package of icons would not have worked for for them.

They needed very specific iconography to visually illustrate certain actions within the Plexus software and enable the user to make easy application of all of its features. The icons also needed to look up to date with modern styles such as OS X and Vista now becoming the user interface of preference. Timescales were also key as the new version of the software and its branding was coming up, which meant that the deadline for the icons had to be met.

The Solution
We sat down with the guys at Plexus, and over a nice cup of fresh Columbian coffee went though every required icon, the task it would perform and the priority of its positioning within the software interface.

We then provided pencil sketched versions of each icon for approval. Once the concepts were approved we re-created all of the icons in 3D and supplied the final versions in three different sized formats.

Clik Software

Clik Service is a business management solution that will help you prepare for and take advantage of the constantly changing world of business.

The Requirement - 3 Phase Approach
Business Management software developer Clik required a fresh new identity to give their company & software a cutting edge identity on the outside representative of the products inside.

Phase one of the project began with traditional pencil and paper, sketching a collection of draft concepts, iconography and styles. The best of the bunch was then collated and artworked for presentation. We then added a splash of colour throughout the range. Clik’s branding was given a friendly yet corporate blue, while the three software packages were each colour coded to best represent their target business.

The Solution
Phase two of the brief was the marketing and packaging. A four sided heavy weight leaflet for all three products was designed and mass printed as marketing material, enabling business customers to understand the benefits of Clik software and how it can seamlessly integrate into their business.

The final stage was the CD-ROM case and retail box packaging as visualised above. We designed the packaging in flat form then sent it off to one of London’s leading packaging manufacturers. Its professional design and visually stimulating colour scheme has proved to be very successful, providing Clik Limited with the identity that now reflects the excellence of their software.

Henry Africas - Cocktail Menus

Henry Africas are one of the most popular cocktail bars in Bristol. There requirements were simple, they needed menus that were as sizzling as their hothouse.

Mouth Watering Menus
We arranged for a photo-shoot at the bar, with all the cocktails arranged with mini umbrellas and straws. The main objective of the photography was to make the punters mouth water and encourage them to try a glass or two.

Once the photography was done we laid out the menu in a logical manner, making it nice a easy for the customer to find the type of drink they were looking for. We then presented the artwork for sign off and supplied them with a selection of 3D visuals so they could get an idea of the finished printed article.

The Complete Solution
The Food menus were carried out in the same vain but required a more subtle design from the bright red used in the cocktail menu. We chose black and gold to add a touch of class to evening dining. Once again photographs were taken of the dishes and a 3D visual was provided before the artwork went to print. This project, although primarily a print one, gave us the ability to show our photography and 3D modeling abilities... Not a jack of
all trades but able to offer the complete solution.

RUONIT

Ruonit is the ideal website for all those who love Bristol nightlife. Find your photo, view club E-flyers and even order professionally printed photos direct from ruonit.

The Requirement
Entrepreneur Carlos Javier had the idea to take his genius photographic skills to a new level. His brainwave started one bustling evening in the neon lit hub of Bristol while armed with an Nikon D80.

His concept was to create a large Bristol nightlife image bank that captured the lifestyle and party Bristol had to offer. Nightlife Revellers loved the idea that they could visit ruonit.com the following day and check out there photographs. So the concept was taken to the next level. The pitch was proposed to several Bristol based companies and we were fortunate to be accepted for this exciting project.

The Solution
Carlos had some clear ideas on how he expected the site to function. The complexity was relatively extensive so Fluid2 created a content management system to contain and organize the range of photography including the dates they were taken. The CMS was built to be simple, intuitive and fast. The front-end was created with user friendliness and a speedy download time in mind.

Within a few months ruonit's hit count was vast. Its remarkable success encouraged the director to take on more photographers, which led the business to become a very profitable enenterprise.

Rider Connect

Rider Connect is a new movement for motorcyclists, run by riders for riders. We had the task of designing a front end that could be easily customized by RC members.

The Requirement
Rider Connect came to us in a bit of a panic. The site was due to be launched in only 7 days from the date they called and they had no design in place for the web site, as previous designs from other agencies had not lived up to expectation.

The site had to have a credible look within the motorcycle community while at the same time have the flexibility to be updated and changed on a regular basis by contributing members. Could we get sign off on a design that so many had previously tried and failed with?.... Yes!

The Solution
We took into consideration that the web site was for all motorcyclists not just curtain types of rider. With this in mind we had to be sure that none of the images were to descriptive to a certain type or manufacture of motorcycle.

We laid out all the page designs in a clear and concise format and used iconography to depict different areas of the site. We created the 3D icons using 3D Studio Max and rendered them using VRay. The designs were and instant success and the site went live on time. Another job well done...

Nitelife Magazine

Nitelife is a guide to what's happening within the Bristol pubs & clubs scene. It had to be mordern, eye catching and add consistant value to advertisers.

The Requirement
Based on the success of the ruonit website, the decision was made to produce a printed publication that would be availabe across Bristol.

The monthly magazine would be funded by paying advertisers and consist of a location map for all the participating pubs and clubs and a breakdown of what events are taking place throughout the month. The publication had to be in-keeping with the nitelife genre and encourage readers to pick up a copy and attend the advertised events. Since the launch the magazine has continued to grow in its success and is looking to go national.

Our Solution
We branded the publication with a contemporary and stylish theme. By utilising the same theory as the ruonit site, using photography of clubbers and socialites, we knew a large amount of people would be seeking the publication to find their picture featured. This gave the advertises maximum exposure. We designed the publication as one initial template so that each of the following issues could be controlled in-house.

DTI Interactive CD ROM

This interactive CD-ROM presents 500 examples of the benefits that businesses, individuals and communities have experienced by using the internet.

The Requirement
Imagine if you could work from home instead of struggling through rush hour everyday... or you could substantially cut your phone bill using the internet. These are just a few of the ways in which the internet can make life simpler. The aim of the project was to teach others the benefits of broadband by presenting them with real world case studies.

A CD-ROM presentation was required to demystify the internet lingo, reveal the benefits, and store 500 case studies which could be viewed via a CD based database and search facility. There was also a collection of video interviews which needed to be integrated within the presentation.

The Solution
The initial task was all about storyboarding the structure. The menu system and flow needed to be simple, clean and clear so as not to intimidate beginners and newbie’s to the world wide web. Each of the main areas: Live, Work and Play were each colour coded so the user always new which section they were in. Each of the case studies were accessible using a simple search and results panel. Videos were optimised, encoded and added to the video area.

The completed disc was then put under vigorous testing before sign-off. Once the functionality was complete, the packaging, CD face and informational booklet were artworked. This then went on to be produced in the thousands with national coverage in mind.

The Broadband Show

We created a visually astounding interactive DVD to show how broadband can be utilised to create rich media on the web.

The Requirement
The brief was to create a compilation of the very best broadband based web content and applications from the South West. The format was to be DVD-ROM based and compatible with both Mac and PC operating systems.

They also required a fast moving introduction to give a sense of speed and data flow. This needed to last no longer than 20 seconds, then automatically take the user through to the main menu.

The Solution
The chosen idea revolved around the concept of fibre optics. Fibre optics technology is currently being used to provide the fastest residential broadband with speeds of up to 100mbs. We began by storyboarding several intro sequences then implimented them using 3D Studio Max, creating a dramatic fibre optic tunnel.

The intro sequence then led the way the navigation was styled. Our team initially brainstormed and sketched a set of navigation solutions which went on to be artworked in Photoshop and brought to life in Flash. The end result was imaginative, modern and easy to navigate. External DVD packaging was then designed, mass produced and distributed.
